Five morning routines to 'spark joy' into your Lockdown day {with no exercise required!}

Updated: Dec 30, 2023

If you are a Mama like me, your typical morning in Melbourne Victoria right now looks very different to what we experienced over a year ago! The morning rush of getting the older kids to school, lunches made - now lasts through til 7pm 'crazy hour' amiright?

The days in lockdown for a working from / stay at home Mama are reallllly long. I literally feel like I am living in Groundhog Month(s) and often I catch myself feeling overwhelmed and really unmotivated.

So - what can you do to try and keep your vibration high and make the most of these crazy times we are in?

It All Starts With Your Morning

Since I have found my morning routine, my long days as a stay at home / working from home / doing every single thing at home mama have turned around a bit. I have found the implementation of a daily routine gives me the most precious gift of the day - total peace and quiet.

I know you might have small children at home or a newborn baby and it is literally Go! Go! Go! As soon as they get up until the moment they pretend to sleep later at night.

I know an early start sounds like torture for those of you who might stay up later... {literally clutching at the last hours of the day that you have to yourself with 'Working Moms" on Netflix and that ice cream in tow}. I definitely still do that too.

I like get up when my partner leaves for work - 5.25am. It was hard at first, but I came to love the soothing feeling of the velvety darkness and the complete silence in the house - more.

Tea & Tapping

Some of you may heard of Tony Robbins the International speaker & author? I wake up with him - every morning. Not in that way...you funny Mamas!

I downloaded this app onto my smart phone and spend 10-15 minutes every day working through the exercise. I love Tony's Morning: Power of Tapping but there are many different versions such as "Boost of Happiness" / "Eliminate Self Doubt" / "Motivate Me To Exercise". It's free for a month then about $12AU per month after & worth it.

EFT Tapping works by releasing energetic blockages with light tapping on various meridian points of the body - usually the hand, eyebrow points, under eye, nose, lips and arm and top of your head. I love the meditative quality of the exercise and how it makes me feel so positive at the beginning of my day.

Meditation

Ever struggled with depression or anxiety? Most of us at some point have and I've found meditation is the only sustainable option to help alleviate symptoms which is also:

  1. Free

  2. 100% Safe

  3. Can do it anywhere, anytime

My 10 minute commitment to Meditation everyday has replaced any prescription & allowed me to regain better control in crappy circumstances - like Lockdown!

My go to guided meditation is with my beloved Mooji on Youtube. It's free and a good bridge to getting used to sitting everyday for 10 minutes until you are ready for something a bit more silent like this Vipassana I listen to now.

Scripting

Scripting is the act of writing your gratitude for your future desires - that have not happened yet.

Dr Wayne Dyer wrote "You see it when you believe it" and scripting is a way to build clarity around what you truly want for your future self, your family and your life.

The best way to start your scripting journey is to brainstorm the things you really want to achieve such as A holiday in Bali, $50,000 in the bank etc.

Then each day in a journal start your fresh page with "I'm so happy & grateful now that I have..." and write a short few paragraphs about your dream life or achievements. the trick to to really feel like it already happening. For more on scripting check out Life By Lucie

If that is a bit far for you to reach at the moment Mama - no worry! Just start by listing all the things you are grateful for each day. Gratitude is a beautiful high frequency and the perfect way to start your day.

Visualization With Instagram

So after I have scripted my gratitude letter to the universe above, I will go to my Instagram account and in my saved posts I have set up a collection called "Visualization" which is based a series of posted I have saved that I love and fit well with the dreams and goals I have for my life.

It's such a beautiful thing, to sit there with my collagen infused tea and scroll through the images that I aspire to being / having. It really reinforces clarity around what I want and helps me to take inspired action when opportunities around these dreams pop into my life.

I did this with my maternity and newborn photography business Soul Mama Photography, my car, my motorbikes and a lot of other things over the years.

Like everything Mama, I encourage you to try what you think might work for you, and don't get discouraged if it takes awhile to get into a routine. Maybe start with one of the above for a week or two and add others as you go.

Let me know your BEST tip for looking after yourself during Lockdown and I will share across my Instagram Stories! If you have a question as always feel free to comment below or shoot me an email through my contact page.

Hope we get to the other side soon x
