Gold Coast mobile Newborn Photography, a safe option in the comfort of your own home.

Updated: Dec 30, 2023

The first few weeks after your first baby is born is a crazy, beautiful, amazing exhausting time. Add in the recent events of the current pandemic and you might find yourself wanting to stay away from crowds, unfamiliar places and keep safe in your little home bubble.

That's where I can help. My Gold Coast Newborn photography sessions are taken in your own home. I bring my expertise, props and time to you so you can relax with your new baby in your pyjamas if you want to!

The most common question that comes up when clients book one of my popular in-home newborn photography sessions is about your home and how this will look as a backdrop to your newborn session.

I have been shooting in families homes for 9 years - there hasn't been a situation or home that I haven't been able to work with yet. But here are a few tips to think about when considering an Ararat in-home newborn session with me:

  1. Colours

Is your home white and airy like the image above? Or have rich colour and darker feel to it?

This will affect the overall look and feel of your final product. Some examples of both below:

2. Clutter

I will send you some information about how to prepare for your mobile newborn photography session beforehand. The rooms with the most natural light are generally where I will take the portraits. If you have a lot of small items or furniture you don't want in the photos you can clear them away until we are finished. A simple white bedspread or sheet next to a window can produce beautiful quality images.

3. The Session Flow

My in-home newborn photography has two parts. I spend the first 30 minutes capturing your family in a lifestyle type of way. That is in a less posed more candid style. I promise you - this style you will love to look back on, the little in-between moments of those early days.

Then, I take some time to create something special for your newborn. Using my expertise in photoshop and natural posing I work gently with baby for the remainder of our session. Breast / Bottle feeding is an important component of keeping your child happy and that's why I allow ample time for these little breaks in the session.

All I need is a warm small space next to a large window to do the baby photos. If your home is on the darker side just let me know and I'll bring extra lighting. Here's some examples of images I can recreate for you otherwise pop over here for more.

Also, it is good to mention that if you have other children, capturing them in your own home can work well as after we have finalised their photos your partner can take them out to the park for some exercise and you and I will finish the newborn session together.

In the meantime, please have a safe and happy holiday and I will see you on the other side!
